Pulmonary Function Test Lab Systems

Pulmonary function test lab systems are the wide range of tests that analyze wellness level of lungs, capacity of taking in and exhale air and efficiency in transferring oxygen into the blood and certain types of lung disease (especially asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema).  The information obtained by these tests is highly useful in diagnosing certain types of lung disorders. This information is also highly useful in assessing obstructive lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Lung volume measurement detects restrictive lung diseases. Restrictive lung diseases may be caused by inflammation or scarring of the lung tissue (interstitial lung disease) or by abnormalities of the muscles or skeleton of the chest wall. A person cannot inhale a normal volume of air with this set of diseases. Testing the diffusion capacity (DLCO) allows an assessment of the lungs efficiency that how efficiently the lungs transfer oxygen from the air into the bloodstream. Spirometer measures how well the lungs exhale. Cardiopulmonary exercise testing is performed to evaluate patients with unexplained dyspnea. The other tests include meter-dosed inhaler technique, the proper use of spacers, peak flow monitoring, and airway clearance modalities (such as PEP therapy, flutter valve and postural drainage).

All tests are performed to diagnose and determine the cause of shortness of breath, or to measure whether occupational exposure to contaminants affects lung function. It can also be used after the administration of medications to assess their effect, and to measure progress in disease treatment.
A value is usually considered abnormal if it is less than 80% of the predicted value for that person. Normal values are based upon the age, height, ethnicity, and sex of the person being tested. Abnormal results usually mean that a degree of chest or lung disease.
Pulmonary function tests are performed on both inpatients and outpatients for diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions, pre-operative assessments, disability evaluations.

Oxygen Concentrator Suppliers In Kerala

An oxygen concentrator or oxygen generator is a medical device that is used to provide oxygen to the people who require it.  These oxygen concentrators are not easily available in the market and normally got by prescription. Oxygen concentrators are getting power by battery or power-in plug.

The working of an oxygen concentrator is much similar to a window air conditioning unit. It takes in air, modifies it and delivers it in a new form. An oxygen concentrator takes in air and purifies it for the use of people who need medical oxygen. Medical oxygen is given to those people who have low levels of oxygen in their blood.

The working of Oxygen Concentrator

1. Taking air in
2. Compressing air
3. The cooling mechanism permit the concentrator from overheating
4. Eliminating nitrogen from the air by filter and sieve beds
5. Adjust delivery settings with an electronic interface
6. Deliver the purified oxygen by a nasal cannula or mask

Benefits of Oxygen Concentrators

  • Consistency
  • Safety
  • Small Size

An oxygen concentrator will never out of oxygen as long as there is availability of air and power supply. Oxygen concentrator generates oxygen as per the requirement and excluding the problems of leaks and fire as in the case of oxygen tanks. The size of oxygen concentrator is also much small in comparison to oxygen tanks. An oxygen concentrator is a great product to use but it is also important to have a backup supply of oxygen tanks for additional use as well as full charge batteries in the case of power outage.

Sleep Apnea – Disrupting quality sleep

Sleep apnea is a severe sleeping disorder characterised by interruption in a person’s breathing during sleep. A person suffering from an untreated condition of sleep apnea may stop breathing many times during sleep, resulting in oxygen deficiency in brain and other parts of the body.
Types of sleep apnea
Sleepapnea can be distinguished into two parts, as follows: -
  • Obstructive sleep apnea – OSA is the most common type of sleep apnea and occurs due to the collapse of soft tissues in throat, which obstructs the airway.
  • Central sleep apnea – caused due to respiratory control centre instability, it occurs when due to failure of brain to incite the muscles to breathe.

Effects of sleep apnea
Sleep apnea can occur in any one irrespective of age or sex. However the risk factors are more in people over the age suffering from overweight or obesity issues. They also occur more in men. The effects of sleep apnea are as follows: -
  • Increased chance of stroke
  • High blood pressure and diabetes
  • Recurrent headaches
  • Probability for heart attack, heart failure and so on
  • Worsening of ADHD
Symptoms of sleep apnea
The common symptom associated with sleep apnea is loud snoring or waking up with a gasping or choking sensation. Other symptoms include insomnia or disturbed sleep, waking up with dry or sore throat, persistent headaches and mood swings.
Treatment for sleep apnea
Sleep apnea treatment is followed after a diagnosis test or sleep study conducted with the help of various procedures. Once the condition is ascertained, sleep apnea can be treated with procedure ranging from lifestyle and sleep position changes to CPAP therapy. In cases where the condition is very severe, surgical procedures are adopted.
Lifestyle changes include weight loss treatments, changing habits that stimulate the disorder and changing the positions of sleep. The CPAP therapy is growing popular because of its effectiveness to treat the condition. It includes a mask attached to a machine which helps in preventing the collapse of airway while sleeping.
Surgical procedures help in correcting the physical factors like tonsils, mandibular or nasal irregularities that stimulate the condition.
B& C Technologies are leading distributors of healthcare products including CPAP devices which help in effective treatment of sleep apnea.

CPAP Machines – An Effective Sleep Apnoea Control Tool

Sleep is a very important constituent to a healthy well-being and is often under estimated. Sleep deprivation can make the body susceptible to several diseases. Sleep apnoea is a sleep disorder that is caused due to breathing obstruction that occurs during sleep. CPAP is an effective treatment for sleep apnoea. If issues like snoring are effecting your or your partner’s quality of sleep and hence life as a whole, this would be an apt choice.
CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure therapy, helps treat sleep apnoea with the help of a machine, which assists in easier breathing. This is done by increasing the air pressure at the throat to ensure that the airway doesn’t collapse, effectively removing the sleep obstruction. The machine can be used continuously throughout the night.
http://cpapbipapindia.com/cpap/

There are several types of CPAP machines available in the market. They differ in their anatomy based on the needs of the patient. A specialist opinion is required to choose the right one. The most common type of the machine is NCPAP, which consists of a mask covering the nose. Some machines have masks to cover both the mouth and nose and others are available with a pair of prongs to cover the nose.
Benefits of CPAP
CPAP machines are widely used nowadays among adults to correct obstructive sleep apnoea. The main benefits of this type of treatment include: -
  • A non-surgical method with good success rate
  • Proved to reduce sleepiness during day time in people with moderate or severe sleep apnoea
  • Useful for patients with coronary artery disease as it reduces the risk of heart failure
  • Known to lower blood pressure.
  • Reduces depression and other issues.
The initial days of using CPAP machine is known to cause discomfort in many but with time, it eases and becomes a habit to ensure regular sleep. The discomfort far outweighs it benefits.
B& C Technologies are known innovators in the field of healthcare with their state of the art machines easing life. With specially designed air pumps and other novel technologies, their CPAP machines takes sleep apnoea treatments a long way.

ECG MACHINES FOR SALE

ECG or electrocardiograph is the process of recording the electoral activity of the heart within a time frame with the help of electrodes. Even the tiniest of heart’s activities are picked from the movements of the heart muscles and are graphed into a paper which gives the detailed summary of the heart’s working during that interval. It is common that this test is conducted on almost all the patients who report chest pain or cardiac related abnormality.

In a conventional ECG machine, the electrodes are placed on the limbs and the chest of the patient. 12 electrodes are used which are used in such a way that the electric response from the chest is absorbed from 12 different directions. These directions are called ‘leads’. The consolidated form of all the signals obtained from these electrodes is used to give the electrocardiogram. It is typically a graph in which voltage is plotted against a time scale.
A healthy cardiac cycle would produce a repeated shape for every heart beat. When this shape looks similar to the healthy heart’s graph, the patient is said to have a normal cardiac working. This ECG machine is nothing but a plotting machine that finds the graph points from the input voltage and the time elapsed.
The ECG machine is used to measure the rhythm of the heart beat, its rate, the position and size of the heart chambers and to detect if there is any defective part in the heart which alters the proper functioning of the heart. It is also used to detect the effect of the cardiac drugs and implanted pacemakers. It is made use of in the cases where surgical methods are employed to bring about some change in the structure of the heart.
